Gyeongju Seongho Resort: Review of Cost-effective Family Accommodation Near Bulguksa Temple and Information on Nearby Facilities

Key Points of Gyeongju Seongho Resort Review

image

In this post, I would like to share a review of a weekend trip to Gyeongju Seongho Resort, which included 2 adults and a 4-year-old child. In search of accommodation that suited the warm weather, I decided to choose Seongho Resort, which is known for its affordability for families.

The weekend overnight rate was 145,000 won, and on weekdays, it can be used for around 60,000 to 70,000 won, making it very attractive economically. The reason for choosing the resort over a family pension was that it offered a spacious area and various facilities.

The most important point is that breakfast service is currently suspended. I checked the blog reviews before visiting, but I learned on-site that breakfast service had been discontinued for over a year. This is something that must be noted when searching for reviews of Gyeongju Seongho Resort.

Room Condition and Ondol Experience

image

Check-in time is from 3 PM. The exterior still shows the feel of an early 2000s training center, but the interior has been recently remodeled and is very clean. The room I used this time was a family-type ondol studio, and the superior type has an additional room.

image

The characteristics of the room are as follows.

There are 3 sets of mattresses, blankets, and pillows prepared. Kitchenware is also set up with 3 sets, allowing the use of pots, frying pans, rice bowls, plates, and utensils. The bathroom has been remodeled to modern standards, and the water pressure is good. Towels, shampoo, body wash, and soap are provided, but toothbrushes and toothpaste are not included.

image

The boiler operated quite warmly.

However, the blankets on the ondol floor were thin, so after sleeping for a long time, I felt a slight pain in my back.

If there are no children, it would be better to use a room with a bed.

Overall, the cleanliness and space utilization of Gyeongju Seongho Resort can be given a high score.

Sauna, Amenities, and Facilities

image

Located on the basement floor are various amenities. A convenience store, sauna, and karaoke are available for easy access. The sauna fee is set at 5,000 won for adults and 3,000 won for children under 4 years old. It consists of 3 baths that are suitably sized for a quick wash. Operating hours are until 9 PM.

image

In summer, an outdoor swimming pool opens, which is very popular among family visitors. There is a horseback riding area within the resort, where about 10 horses greet visitors. It is said that there are also quite a few guests coming for horseback riding experiences.

image

On the first floor, there is a Rodeo Texas BBQ restaurant and across from it is a pork belly specialty restaurant. Many restaurants close after dinner time, so it is advisable to check in advance. Additionally, since there are no places offering breakfast, it is important to prepare breakfast separately.

Location and Travel Routes

image

Seongho Resort is located in Oedong-eup, close to Bulguksa Temple. It is slightly farther from Hwanglidangil and Bomun Tourist Complex, but it takes about 5 minutes by car to reach Bulguksa. Additionally, it takes about 15 to 30 minutes to get to Donggung and Wolji, and access to Bomun Tourist Complex is also easy.

image

The concern about the congestion on Hwanglidangil can actually work positively for travelers. Staying in a quiet place while conveniently visiting the main tourist attractions is well-suited for this travel style.

Overall Review and Target Recommendations

image

I have summarized the review of Gyeongju Seongho Resort.

First, positive aspects include the very clean remodeled rooms. Moreover, it provides sufficiently spacious areas for families and has amenities such as a sauna and swimming pool. Lastly, the satisfaction level is relatively high for the price.

image

Breakfast service is not provided.

The ondol floor is warmer than expected.

The parking space can be crowded on weekends.

Dining options are somewhat limited in the evening.

In conclusion, Gyeongju Seongho Resort is a place worth recommending as an affordable family accommodation. It suits family travelers who prefer spacious areas and practicality over luxurious hotel services. If you are planning a trip near Bulguksa, this will be a reasonable choice.
