You can wait in the waiting room next to the ticket office and be guided when your boarding time comes.

Experience of riding the Tongyeong ferry Hansando JeSeungdang course

The Tongyeong ferry terminal is located in Donam-dong, close to the Tongyeong cable car and luge, making it easy to find.

After purchasing a boarding ticket for 21,000 KRW for adults at the ticket office on weekends, you submit your ID and boarding report to receive a bracelet-style boarding pass.

image

The ferry operated by JeSeungdang in Tongyeong is designed simply with a one-story structure. The inside has air conditioning, allowing passengers to enjoy the beautiful sea scenery in a pleasant environment, even on hot days.

Once all passengers are boarded, we set off towards Hansando!

After 30 minutes of sailing while listening to the captain’s explanation of the Hallyeo aquatic area in Tongyeong, we arrive at the Hansando JeSeungdang dock. The captain gives a lively description of the islands, rocks, and lighthouses in front of Tongyeong, and this live commentary helps immerse passengers further in the experience.

image

There’s a designated time to feed the seagulls shrimp chips, so you can go outside and enjoy that accordingly. Following the instructions makes it even better.

image
image

As I listened to the captain's interesting explanation, 30 minutes had already passed and we had arrived at Hansando JeSeungdang!

image

They give you one hour to explore. After disembarking, you can use the restrooms.

image

On the island, I immediately followed the coast to visit the
Daechupmun–JeSeungdang–Suru–Chungmusa
in that order.

image

It's easy to use a stroller along the flat paths, and there are plenty of shady spots, making it relatively pleasant to walk even during summer heat warnings.

image

As I strolled along the quiet beach path, my worries faded away and my mind became calm.

image

During the Imjin War, General Lee Soon-shin established JeSeungdang, the base of the Samdo Naval Command, after the Battle of Hansando. This place is significant, as it means 'the house where victory is achieved.'

The sea viewed from the Suru of JeSeungdang was so peaceful that it was hard to believe that a battle occurred there. However, when I read the explanation sign, the phrase "Desperation leads to life, life leads to desperation" struck me deeply.

image
image

Walking along the quiet forest trails, I could easily discover various historical sites.

Examples include Daechupmun, Suru, Chungmusa, and the stele.

The Suru is where strategies were directed while overlooking the sea, allowing me to appreciate the wisdom of General Lee Soon-shin.

Chungmusa is a shrine dedicated to General Lee Soon-shin, honoring his accomplishments.

Additionally, the stele inscribed with "Desperation leads to life, life leads to desperation" effectively conveys the spirit of the General.

This walking path is mostly forested and relatively flat, making it accessible for strollers.

After an hour, the departure siren rang, and I returned to the dock, precisely back at the terminal in 2 hours.
