‘Ecoteering’ is a new experiential activity that combines ecology and orienteering. In this activity, participants explore the arboretum using maps and compasses while completing various missions.

Children have the opportunity to discover traces of various organisms in the forest and deepen their knowledge of ecosystems. Through this direct experience, they will feel the importance of the forest.

Event Schedule and Operation Method

This event will take place on September 20th (Saturday) and September 27th (Saturday), with a total of two sessions. Each session will select 30 teams to participate, and students from the 3rd to 6th grades in elementary school and their guardians must form a team.

Explorers will move along the arboretum map to complete hidden missions. In this process, they will explore biological traces, receive ecological interpretation education, and participate in various experiential activities. This allows children to learn and experience important lessons about nature.





Application Method and Participation Eligibility

Those who wish to participate as a family can add 'National Geographic Apparel Kids' as a Kakao Plus Friend and apply through the 'Kids Exploration Team Application' menu at the bottom of the chat screen.

The application deadline is August 31, and the participants must be students from the 3rd to 6th grades in elementary school or children of the same age, along with one guardian.

Selection will be made by lottery for 30 teams each event day, with the results sent via individual text messages on September 4.





Last Year’s Great Interest, Looking Forward to This Year

The Kids Exploration Team expanded its scope to arboretums across the country starting from 2024 after its pilot operation in 2023.

Last year, a total of 98 teams and 368 people participated in, combining the first and second halves of the year, and there was high competition with 916 teams applying for the recruitment in the first half of this year. Ultimately, 59 teams and 188 participants joined the program, making it an experience that brought great satisfaction to both parents and children.

The second half of this year is expected to operate with even more diverse programs, continuing the popularity at Haeundae Arboretum.
