Peak Season Reservation Tips for the Natural Recreation Forest – First Come, First Served and Lottery, including ‘Picking Up’

Reservations for Daewunsan Natural Recreation Forest can only be made through the 'Forest Access' portal.

As of 2024, reservations for the peak season from mid-July to the end of August are conducted through a lottery application announced in May. An announcement will be made again this year, and the winning results will be announced around June 10th. If there are cancellations, the remaining reservations will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis at 9 AM on June 15th. It is essential to set an alarm not to miss this moment.

It’s advisable to prepare in advance for a special experience in nature.

Popular dates like Children's Day are extremely competitive for reservations compared to off-season weekdays. Reservations for this date begin at 9 AM on Wednesday, six weeks prior, and are often sold out within a minute. Although the login wait may take a few minutes, entry to the server is instantaneous, so it is crucial to log in early and click quickly. A strategy of accessing simultaneously with family accounts is also effective.

Daewunsan Natural Recreation Forest's House in the Woods has various types of trees. Different types such as the Korean zelkova, sweetgum, and maple make up the cabins. We managed to book the Mulpure Tree room for 95,000 won. Current weekend reservations for June are nearly full, and Saturday reservations tend to fill up on the same day.

Personal Review of the ‘Mulpure Tree’ Rooms – Lighting, View, and the Valley are Perfect

First, check-in is done at the information center located at the entrance of the recreation forest. After a brief explanation, we get the card key and purchase a trash bag. Payments can only be made by card. The staff is very polite and friendly. It’s a moment of anticipation for the working environment of the Yangsan Facilities Management Corporation.

The House in the Woods allows parking near each room, which is convenient.

The Mulpure Tree room is one of the accommodations in the House in the Woods, with an area of 33㎡ and can accommodate up to 7 people. The heated floors make it a perfect space for families with young children.

image

The layout includes a living room and kitchen connected to the bedroom. The kitchen is well-equipped with basic appliances, providing an environment for cooking. Facilities such as refrigerator, microwave, rice cooker, and other necessities are fully equipped.

image

First, the room features fantastic views and excellent lighting. Sunshine shines deep into the room through the large windows, while the beautiful scenery of the forest and sounds of the valley flow in naturally.

Utilizing a standard resort suite room on peak weekends costs around 400,000 to 500,000 won. In contrast, the House in the Woods offers an excellent cost-performance ratio at 95,000 won. Of course, the inconvenience of needing to cook yourself exists, but the price range is attractive.

The components of the inventory and internal facilities are as follows:

Kitchen appliances include a 2-burner induction cooker, microwave, rice cooker, and a mid-sized refrigerator (freezer/refrigerator combo).

image

Cooking tools:
: frying pan, two types of pots, ladle, spatula, knife, cutting board, tongs, spoon holder

image

Dining utensils include the basic 7-person set such as rice bowls, soup bowls, plates, mugs, spoons, chopsticks, and glass cups.

It is also recommended to prepare daily necessities such as electric kettle, dishcloths, scrubbers, kitchen detergent, and disposable scrubbers.

The heating and cooling equipment includes a large stand-alone air conditioner and electric floor heating, allowing indoor temperature control.

Inside the accommodation, floor mats, blankets, and pillows are provided, along with individual cover sets.

image

Basic components in the bathroom include a showerhead, toilet, sink, soap, and toilet paper.

However, towels and personal care items are not provided, so it is necessary to prepare those personally, and you should also purchase bottled water in advance as it is not available.

Opening the front door leads to an outdoor deck, perfect for enjoying a simple meal or tea.

The deck is equipped with an outdoor table and bench set, providing a great place to have meals or share snacks with children against the backdrop of nature.

image

What impressed me the most was that the indoor soundproofing is excellent, and the spacing between rooms is wide enough that noise from other rooms or the deck is hardly noticeable. This feature provides a more comfortable relaxation environment for family travelers.

image

It might be a bit uncomfortable to sleep as there are no separate mattresses, and the room and living area each consist of one. Therefore, if two families are using the space together, consider that it may feel somewhat cramped.

The valley is easily accessible along the deck close to the accommodation. With a water depth of 30 to 60 cm, it creates a safe environment for toddlers to enjoy water play.
