2025 Busan Super Cup International Yacht Competition, a Marine Leisure Festival at Suyeong Bay
Busan has a chance to once again solidify its position as a global marine leisure tourism city.
The '2025 Busan Super Cup International Yacht Competition' will take place at the Busan Suyeong Bay Yacht Stadium from April 24 to April 27. This year marks the 20th edition of this competition, the largest yacht (cruiser) event with the longest history in Korea, featuring 34 teams and over 280 participants from 10 countries who will showcase thrilling marine races.
Hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and organized by the Busan Yacht Association, this competition aims to popularize yacht culture and has been held annually to establish itself as a marine sports festival enjoyed by its citizens.
Intense Competition and Gorgeous Maritime Parade
This year's competition will have participant registration and measurements on April 24, with the actual races taking place over three days from April 25 to April 27.
Notably, the maritime parade and departure ceremony starting on April 25 at 11:30 AM will be a key event, celebrating the 20th anniversary with all participating teams beautifying the sea as they signal a grand opening.
Competition Schedule Summary
On Friday, April 25, the opening ceremony and maritime parade will be held, kicking off the first day of races.
On Saturday, April 26, the second day of races will take place, and
on Sunday, April 27, the third day of races will be held alongside a prize-giving ceremony.
The races will be conducted in ORCⅠ, ORCⅡ inshore racing styles, allowing spectators to enjoy the dynamic sight of yachts racing through the waters of Suyeong Bay.
Various Side Events with Citizens
This competition is not just a sports event but is organized as an experience-centered festival that the citizens can enjoy together.
During the competition period, various programs will be provided for the general public. For instance, there will be experiences of watching the races, making commemorative T-shirts, and offering drinks to spectators with reusable cups, among other side events. These diverse activities are designed to ensure that citizens have a more enjoyable time.
Viewing Schedule Information
A total of four sessions will be held on the afternoons of April 25, and the mornings and afternoons of April 26, as well as the morning of April 27. Each session will operate five yachts, providing an opportunity for a total of 130 participants. A project for environmental protection has also been arranged. If you bring a personal tumbler, you'll receive a free drink, which is intended to encourage citizens' participation in the protection of the marine environment.
