Children's Day, Let's Go on a Special Culinary Journey – The 2025 Busan Wheat Festival
A special culinary festival will be held in Busan in celebration of Children's Day 2025.
This festival will take place over two days from May 5 to 6 at Hwayang Eco Park and Hwayang Auto Camping Ground, under the name '2025 Busan Wheat Festival.'
The wheat festival in Busan is based on the rich history and culture of the Gupo area in Buk-gu. This festival aims to create special memories for children and families by offering various dishes and experiential programs utilizing wheat.
Wheat Lounge: From Michelin Star Restaurants to Local Eateries, A Feast of Wheat
A special 'Wheat Lounge' will be hosted at Hwayang Auto Camping Ground.
Here, a 'Wheat Food Editorial Shop' will operate with participation from over 20 local and Michelin-starred restaurants. Various wheat-based dishes such as pasta, pizza, ramen, wheat noodles, handmade burgers, and street food will be available, allowing visitors to enjoy wheat dishes from several countries at once.
There will be opportunities to experience a variety of flavors, which is highly anticipated.
The 'Food Lounge,' held under a large shade structure, will present various cultural programs. Events such as performances by the Buk-gu Children’s Choir, acoustic music, and discussions with chefs will be among the diverse offerings, providing enjoyment for the audience. This unique experience of tasting delicious food while enjoying performances is expected to be very popular among family visitors.
Picnic Lounge: A Space Where Experience and Learning Come Together
The 'Picnic Lounge' is being operated in the lotus flower complex of Hwayang Eco Park. In particular, the experiential theme zone 'Wheatland,' designed for children and families, will host various programs. Activities such as decorating straw hats, making wheat cupcake soap, sensory play with flour, Gupo Noodles building experience, and pizza making are included, ensuring a fun time.
Additionally, 'Wheat Academy' will feature in-depth lectures and experiences on wheat, including 'The Baker's Companion Fermentation Story' and 'The Story of Alcohol Made from Wheat.' Furthermore, 'Wheat Fence' will showcase a colorful market that combines flea markets, exhibitions, and busking, providing the opportunity to experience local wheat products such as Gupo Yeonhan Noodles firsthand.
There are programs available to experience Busan's diverse culinary culture.
The 'Busan It Day Dessert Popup,' conducted in collaboration with the local platform 'Busan Unnie,' and the 'Cinema Food Terrace' in partnership with the Busan Tourism Corporation are events themed around food from films.
These programs provide the opportunity to enjoy both gastronomy and culture simultaneously.
Steps Toward Eco-friendliness, A Sustainable Festival
At the Busan Wheat Festival, all food is served in reusable containers. This initiates a campaign for the use of reusable containers for environmental protection. The city of Busan will actively work to establish a sustainable eco-friendly festival culture starting with this event.
Various activities that families can enjoy together are prepared for Children's Day.
Examples include experiences of making Gupo noodles, motorboat water sports, and ecological exploration of the Nakdong River.
These locally integrated programs provide special experiences and great opportunities for family visitors.
2025 Busan Children's Day, To Hwayang Eco Park!
