A New Horizon of Asian Video Art, Coming to Busan
From April 15 to June 29, 2025, the large-scale exhibition 《Moving On Asia》 will be held at Domohun and Busan Cinema Center, focusing on contemporary Asian video art.
This exhibition will feature 27 artists from various Asian countries under the auspices of the Busan Museum of Art, using the medium of 'image' to express social, cultural, and artistic solidarity. It is expected to provide an opportunity to share diverse perspectives and messages from Asia.
Domohun and Busan Cinema Center, Where Artists from 12 Asian Countries Converge
This exhibition will feature 18 artists from 13 Asian countries, presenting a total of 20 video works.
The artists will communicate with the audience through various works that convey social messages based on innovative perspectives and narratives utilizing digital media.
Notable works include video installations and single-channel works by leading contemporary Asian artists such as Jang Woo-jin, Yusuke Sasaki, Yang Pudong, Yuan Guanming, and Meyro Koizumi.
Asia in Motion through Images – Forums and Screenings on Various Themes
This 《Moving On Asia》 exhibition goes beyond a mere exhibition; it becomes a platform to explore the expansiveness and realizability of contemporary media art through forums, screenings, and dialogues with artists (artist talks).
A forum will be held on Wednesday, April 24, divided into three sessions. The first session will address 'Collective Memory and Communal Narrative', the second 'Fluidity and Variability', and the last 'The Performative of Place and the Politics of the Body'. Through these discussions, we will deeply examine how video art responds to and interprets memory, mythology, bodies, and place.
Following this, on Thursday, April 25, experimental single-channel video works by prominent Asian artists Yang Pudong, Yuan Guanming, and Meyro Koizumi will be screened at Busan Cinema Center. After the screening, there will be a dialogue session with the artists, providing an opportunity for the audience to hear and communicate directly with the artists’ artistic perspectives. This event will serve as an important forum for a deep understanding of contemporary media art.
A New Platform Experiment with Loop Lab Busan
This exhibition is part of the Loop Lab Busan project, modeled after the world-renowned video art platform 'Loop Barcelona'.
Loop Lab Busan is Asia's first media art exchange-based experimental platform, which aims to pursue both artistic and public values, offering a variety of programs that encompass exhibitions, forums, and art fairs.
Notably, the art fair is organized by the cultural planning company A Fluxtion, planning to showcase diverse content to cultivate a regionally-focused alternative art ecosystem. This exhibition is highly anticipated.

Anyone wishing to attend can participate in the forums and screenings without a separate application, and there will be additional screening schedules at the Busan Cinema Center from May 7 to 14.
This exhibition aims to create a space where experiments in video aesthetics and social reflection converge, providing fresh inspiration for those interested in video art in Busan.
With the tranquil art space of Domohun in Namcheon-dong and the popular culture platform Busan Cinema Center, this exhibition is highly recommended for anyone visiting Busan in April and May.
